One of the most quiet beaches of Ibiza is the serene haven of Cala Boix. It's nestled on the northeastern coast of the island and is a true off-the-map discovery. The path to the cala leads past natural stone walls and fields of fig, carob, and almond trees. It can only be reached via a steep flight of steps, and once you arrive there, you immediately feel that you discovered something special.
The view of the sea is incredibly beautiful, the colors are understated sophistication: rocky cliffs and the typical ibicencan red earth colored by iron, frame the bay. The soft sand has a grey color that you can find only in this cove. It’s here that I found the origins of the mud and dark stone of the collection. The surrounding trees and lush foliage inspired the jungle brownish green shade.
The beach is rarely crowded what makes it a real insider tip especially during the summer months. It is a good choice for families as kids can play in the shallow crystal clear waters as well as for individualists, who appreciate the tranquility and raw beauty of a bay without buildings. If you get there early enough, you might see a ray swimming close to the shore.
Down on the beach there is a simple, authentic chiringuito, which is not often found on the island anymore. It has been run by the Ferrer-Guasch family for over fifty years and serves by far the best tortilla española and the best aioli. The staff, mostly friends of the family, are super friendly and from the terrace you have a wonderful view of the sea and the entire bay.
For me, Cala Boix isn’t just a beach. It’s a canvas of colors and emotions and has been the source of inspiration for the design aesthetic of SUNSOCIETY.
